About Hana

I'm the founder of Hana & George, which I run from my workshop in Batcombe, Somerset.

I studied Fine Art at Central Saint Martins, one of the world's leading art and design colleges, and since then have completed extensive training in traditional upholstery and lampshade making.

I've always had a love of art and design, and I decided it was time to follow my passion and start my own business in 2012.  I find it incredibly rewarding in my work as an upholsterer and maker to take an old family heirloom or an antique shop find and work with my clients specifications to restore their piece to its former glory.

At the beginning of 2020, I wanted to start experimenting again with different artistic mediums to produce a product that would compliment my work as an upholsterer, while also combining my love of art, vintage fabrics and interiors. I have always been a huge fan of lamps (my house is FULL of them!) and while rolling out clay one day in Lockdown, decided to give making them a go! Each lamp is totally unique, with each component being carefully considered. The ceramic base is hand built in clay, the vibrant glaze colour is chosen to compliment the vintage gathered fabric on the traditionally made lampshade, all tied together with a contrasting braid flex. A piece of art for your home, and a guaranteed ray of sunshine.

My priority is to create beautiful but functional items that my clients and their families will treasure for years to come.
